South East Success at National Championships

There was reason for celebration for the South East region at the recent National Championships held in Cavan Equestrian Centre, regional members won no less than three national titles and were unlucky not to walk away with more.

Anne Marie Dunphy was hugely impressive with Urbanus to take both the Advanced Medium Freestyle with a whopping score of 76.33% and also the Advanced championship, Rosemary Gaffney led the medium championship from the outset and were never challenged to take the title with 3% to spare over her nearest rival, Monica Whelan achieved some excellent results with Act On Impulse and was unlucky not to lift the preliminary title when finishing a close 2nd from a huge number of entrants, she was also 5th in the Novice final, a superb achievement in these classes where the entries were extremely large.

Ccongratulations are also extended to Rachel Dowley and Sir Frederick who were placed in the preliminary championship and to Monica Dunne and Vileberrie who were placed in both Novice and Elementary championships.

Ivan Kelly and Don Rosario scored an impressive 76.8% to take 5th place in a hotly contested young dressage horse class, and finally congratulaions are extended to the South East Regional team who put in a magnificent performance to take 2nd place in the regional team championship only losing out by .17% on taking the title, team members were Rachel Dowley with Sir Frederick, Monica Whelan with Act On Impulse, Patricia Ryan with Terence Hill and Monica Dunne with Vileberrie.

Overall a hugely impressive performance from all regional members who attended the championships. Roll on 2010!!!
