South East Success at National Winter Finals and Northern Ireland Dressage Festival

South East Region members enjoyed considerable success at the recent National Winter finals and Northern Ireland Festival of Dressage.

At the winter finals Rosemary Gaffney scored a double taking both the Elementary and Medium titles with Aldham Mill Dubloon, Sue Smallman and Oakengrove Ideal took second in the Grand Prix class while Monica Dunne and Vileberrie took second place in a large novice class.

At the Northern Ireland festival Anne Marie Dunphy had a successful weekend taking the Medium championship with Urbanus and qualifying for the dressage masters at Hickstead, Rosemary Gaffney also secured 3rd in the medium championship to take another of the Hickstead qualifying spots. Sue Smallman secured 3rd in the Big Tour Championship and there was significant success for Rachel Dowley and Sir Frederick who won the Preliminary class on Sunday with 70.45%, this result secured the Accolade cup for the Irish under 25 rider to receive the highest % over the weekend. Rachel was also a member of the Irish team who placed 2nd in the under 25 team championship.
